Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of material on Howard County Criminal History. Accessing any part of the website means the user accepts all terms stated here. A person who does not agree should discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. Howard County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with a government agency. Neither this website nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource identifies public-record channels in Howard County, Texas. It is neither a private investigation company nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference website is independent of Howard County and every Texas agency. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve files, perform an official check, or submit a filing on a user's behalf.

The material routes users to Howard County Sheriff, the proper court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Official public-record access is subject to laws such as the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while TxDPS criminal-history dissemination is controlled by Government Code Chapter 411, Subchapter F. The website may also connect users with independent search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Users agree not to engage in any of the following:

  • Use the website in violation of federal, Texas, or local law
  • Threaten, harass, or stalk another person with information obtained here
  • Rely on website content for employment, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any website system or account
  • Deploy scraping software, bots, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with performance or prevent access by other users

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use this website or a linked service to stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against another person. Such conduct can be criminal. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 62 governs the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry; publication supports public-safety awareness and does not authorize vigilantism, blacklisting, confrontation, or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Howard County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produces no consumer report, credit report, or background check. Its advertising partners are not presented as services for screening applicants, evaluating rentals, setting insurance terms, or assessing credit. Information from this website or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make a hiring, retention, or termination decision
  • Evaluate a tenant or housing application
  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a license, benefit, permit, or government program
  • Carry out any other activity governed by the FCRA

A regulated background check must be obtained through an authorized, FCRA-compliant provider and used in accordance with applicable law. TxDPS Crime Records Division controls official Texas criminal-history products, but a public record search here is not a regulated screening report.

5. No Legal Advice

The website provides general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Howard County charge, warrant, conviction, expunction, or nondisclosure rule applies to a particular person. Individual advice should come from a licensed Texas attorney.

6. No Warranties

All website content is offered "as is," without a guarantee that:

  • Information will always be current, complete, or accurate
  • Access will remain uninterrupted
  • Every page will be free from defects, errors, or security vulnerabilities
  • An outside search provider will return complete or correct results

Charges, dispositions, expunction orders, and access restrictions can alter a record. Delays and gaps may occur. No statement on this website should be treated as an official representation by Howard County Sheriff, a court, TxDPS, or another government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may open sheriff, court, Texas agency, legal-aid, or independent search websites. Those services are outside our control. Howard County Criminal History is not responsible for their availability, content, prices, results, or data practices. Their own terms govern use.

8. Intellectual Property

Howard County Criminal History or its content partners own the website's text, graphics, logos, and code. Copying, adapting, distributing, or creating derivative material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the website and its operators are not liable for losses or damages arising from use of the website, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to defend and hold the website and its operators harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by that user's conduct or breach of these terms, including related legal expenses.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the website must be brought in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be narrowed only as required to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
